Founded in March 2005, Cerenis Therapeutics is a privately held pharmaceutical company that draws on the experiences of an international team of veterans in HDL research and product development. Several team members – including two company founders, Jean-Louis Dasseux and William Brinkerhoff – worked together at Esperion Therapeutics, a highly successful HDL-therapy research and development startup acquired by Pfizer in December 2003 for $1.3 billion. The proven clinical, business, regulatory, and manufacturing expertise of the Cerenis team continues to advance the company's goals to develop and market novel and innovative HDL therapies.

Cerenis has identified a range of small- and large-molecule HDL therapy candidates that represent significant advances in the treatment of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases. Our research is focused on major commercial opportunities with multi-billion dollar market potential. The Cerenis pipeline includes Cerenis HDL, PPAR d compounds, and HDL enhancers – all of which have the promise of reversing atherosclerotic disease by enhancing reverse lipid transport (RLT), a natural cardioprotective mechanism in humans. Earlier generation HDL therapy programs mimicked only limited aspects of human HDL or in some cases produced dysfunctional HDL. In contrast, Cerenis is developing unique patent-protected technologies that have the potential to enhance RLT and therefore offer superior therapeutic benefits to the many men and women around the world suffering from cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Cerenis has a licensing agreement with Nippon Chemiphar Company for its PPAR Delta program.

Cerenis' groundbreaking research is supported by an international syndicate of leading life science and biotechnology investors. Having raised $84 million (€66.6) in Series A and Series B financing, Cerenis is well positioned to advance its drug development programs to proof-of-concept stage, and to pursue further options in R&D alliances and licensing, mergers and acquisitions, and acquiring additional financing.
